Why this, Why now?

Hello friends!

I thought it might be a good idea to share with you a little of my purpose and reasoning behind the creation of Fluffy Green Earth..so here goes!

I've always loved to sew and craft. From a very young age, I made scrunchies for my sisters, handmade dolls, and doll clothes. I was always blessed with the gift of being able to create whatever item I had pictured in my mind. Once I had children(ds is 2 and dd is 3), I learned very quickly that mass manufactured goods were rarely given the time and attention they needed to be able to stand up for the long haul-favorite blankets were often pulling apart at the seams after just month of use, swaddling blankets were too small, burp cloths not absorbent enough, etc. On top of this, I recall getting together with friends and family that had little ones, and constantly running into the issue of-"Who's is this?" because we had all purchased the standard print/pattern of blanket or toy in the large market chains. Once the kids were born, I began sewing and creating again. I made most of the needs for my babies for equal to or less than department stores and mine were original. I began giving items as gifts to friends and family and was elated with their responses and their enjoyment of a unique, high quality, one of a kind item for themselves or their little one.

All items that will be for sale from Fluffy Green Earth are handmade, by me, in my home. Each item is given the time and attention it needs to not only be useful, but to last long term and become a cherished keepsake for your family. You can be confident that, since I do not purchase large lots of materials, that your item is most likely the only one like it that exists. It is as unique as you or your child is. The gift you purchase for that baby shower or child's party will not only have function, but be original! I stand behind all of my work and unlike large manufacturers, have the ability to be available for questions and comments in a personable fashion. If you don't see something you like once the postings are up, feel free to e-mail me for a "custom" slot.

Lastly, I think it is important to mention that my foremost reason for doing this is to share my items with others. Some products may be more expensive than mass manufactured items, not because I am trying to make a profit, but because you investing in a quality, unique item that has been given personal attention. I use all of my own patterns (in some cases, no patterns at all) and have expensively checked patents and copyrights. I love to create and if being able to share that with others allows me the opportunity to continue to do so-that is very exciting! After all, my children have their share of these items and this house can barely hold anymore!

So, if you need an item that is soft and fluffy and in many cases created in an "earth-friendly" manner, check out Fluffy Green Earth on facebook! Stocking will begin in the coming weeks and for those of you that follow, a few "thank-you" giveaways will be up right here on the blog soon. I am grateful for all the support I have received thus far, and look forward to the many smiles I can bring through my products!

Welcome!

I began sewing on my great-grandmother's machine when I was very young. It was always important to me to create personal gifts for all of my friends and family. Now, as an adult, I am happy to offer an assortment of products to the general public. In between caring for my three year old daughter and two year old son, I enjoy exploring my creative side as I piece together items that are both modern, functional, and often beneficial for the environment. My first products were soft and cozy baby blankets, followed by infant and toddler hooded towels, and then reusable cloth wipes for babies and the household. Thus, Fluffy Green Earth came into existence!

I am currently working on getting everything up and running. I began a facebook page and attempted to run a giveaway, but was thwarted by the regulations on facebook. I am thinking, I should be able to do it here... :)
